Social media is set to become the single most important marketable metric online

There is a hint of trend starting to sweep across the world of social media and internet marketing early adopters. Their web traffic is dieing off, yet they are as popular as ever. How is this possible?

People are spending more and more time on their favorite social network. More and more traffic flows through social networks, and as a result, more and more content is shared on these networks.

Entire conversations... entire web visits can now be completed without visiting more than a handful of social media websites.

The day of the individual website, dutifully creating content to drive organic traffic in the hope that some revenue could be squeezed from the visits is drawing to a close.

Instead, social media marketers will compete for social influence via the social networks, bypassing blogs and websites altogether.

Advertisers and marketers will instead pay handsomely to leverage the social influence of leading people by looking at the extent of their reach and who they can influence.

Of course, getting to the point where you are able to become a leading influencer is still going to take some doing outside of the social networks. Most likely by creating excellent, high quality content - so don't quit blogging just yet.
